Action Language Learning: Promoting Chinese Language Through Creative Teaching Methods
About Us
Lisa Li Urbonya, President of Action Language Learning, is a certified principal and curriculum director who lived in China for 12 years where she learned first hand about the Chinese educational system, the culture and the language. She had access to many Chinese private, public and international schools as a teacher and parent. Lisa Li developed Action Language Learning to assist educational organizations and educators to learn from China and other countries to “globalize” efforts in the U.S. and connect cultures and languages.
Lisa, who also serves as a Chinese language director at Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy, developed a multi-sensory musical program for learning Mandarin when she worked as a Chinese language teacher at the International School of Beijing and as a founding director of Madison Lakeside Chinese Language School. Lisa has traveled worldwide to coach Chinese language teachers and administrators. She is currently writing a curriculum that can be used with “Musical Mandarin”. Part of the program, Tang Dynasty Poems Set to Music, is available on this website as well as through Cheng & Tsui and Asia for Kids.
